Everton boss David Moyes admits there is 'usually' a close relationship with Liverpool managers.
Moyes says he was happy to repay Roy Hodgson for his guidance when he was starting off in coaching by buying him dinner while he was boss of Liverpool - all hush-hush, of course.
Moyes said: "Yes, when he became the Liverpool manager we went out for dinner. It was something Gerard Houllier had done when I came to Everton.
"There was a quiet meeting put together, the Liverpool manager and the Everton manager. I met Gerard in private which was great because I was new.
"I thought it was a bit of a tradition here. But one or two haven't been quite as accepting. Roy, though, was one of the ones who, when I phoned him, agreed to go out for dinner. I had the chance to get to know him even more. He's a very good coach."
