Everton boss David Moyes says Royston Drenthe is still to adjust to the culture of the Premier League.
Drenthe was replaced during last week's FA Cup quarter-final with Sunderland for his own protection after he grew frustrated with the number of fouls against him.
Moyes said: "I don't worry that Drenthe goes down too easily.
"It's just that once he does go down he's got to get back up. That's it.
"We can't play with a man short in that period after. We have got to get everybody back.
"He can't be looking and waiting on referees to give him fouls."
