Everton boss Roberto Martinez was delighted with the goalscoring performance of Bryan Oviedo in victory over Stoke City.
The Costa Rica international has stepped in for the injured Leighton Baines.
Martinez told evertontv: "It is important in any squad to have players working hard when they are not in the starting eleven and biding their time to show what they can do.
"It was very pleasing to see the level of performance Bryan gave. That is not an accident; it is down to his work, his professionalism.
"You are as good as the squad, so it was pleasing to see that from Bryan - he deserves it."
