Everton boss Roberto Martinez is delighted with Nikica Jelavic's preseason form.

His manager knows it's vital to have his strikers in clinical form with the Premier League season fast approaching.

"It is very important," he told evertontv. "I think that every player has a massive role this season and when I see Niki coming back with a focus, working really hard and being able to score goals it is pleasing.

"He's finding a little bit of form and he's finding enjoyment with his football and that has been paramount.

"All we need to do is keep working (on his fitness) for him to get the 90 minutes option and allow him to carry on scoring goals."
