Everton boss Marco Silva: Kean, Gbamin will get better

Everton boss Marco Silva says their summer signings are getting stronger after their 1-0 win over Watford.

Silva has explained his thinking behind the late introduction of Moise Kean and also said that though Jean-Philippe Gbamin showed improvements, he still suffered with "problems again".

Explaining the decision to bring off Dominic Calvert-Lewin after 72 minutes and replace him with Kean, Silva said: "I have to put a fresher player in the attack line and I had solutions on the bench - him and Cenk Tosun.

"At that moment the game was a little bit broken and we are not controlling the game. If the game was a little bit different my decision may have gone to Cenk Tosun.

"But we had a little bit more space behind them, they took the risk to play with four or five players in the attack line with direct balls all the time.

"I knew and I expect in that moment that if you win one or two balls and after you make the right decision then a chance will appear for our counter attack and it is what happened.

"In that big chance he didn't score, it was his debut at home, feeling the atmosphere in our stadium is different. The Premier League is the most competitive and most difficult competition in the world and it is really difficult for them to adapt.

"J-P again, a little bit better than the last game but with problems again and you have to help them to improve and, in some moments, to give the time for them to be ready to help the team."
