Donny van de Beek was injured in the warm-up prior to Everton's loss to West Ham United.
The Manchester United loanee was set to start at London Stadium.
But a quad injury saw him replaced by Mason Holgate in the starting line-up.
Speaking before the game, manager Frank Lampard said: "Donny had a muscle injury, his quad.
"We don't know the size of it, hopefully it's a small one, but not enough to start a game - maybe having to then shuffle around after five or ten minutes."
