Everton boss Dyche happy for Gomes after goal

Everton boss Sean Dyche was delighted with Andre Gomes in defeat at Tottenham.

The Blues lost 2-1, with Gomes scoring the visitors' goal.

Dyche said: “I am very pleased for him. He has had a really tough time. I made it very clear when he came back to us in pre-season that I wanted him to be part of us and what we do. He made it clear he wanted to do that but then went through a really frustrating period.

“I also wanted him to complete his rehab with 90 minutes. He wanted to do that and he agreed to do that, which he did. I've got to be honest, putting him on today was a bit early but we were a bit stretched and we were looking at which way we should go about this.

“I thought he was excellent. I thought the way he adapted to the game after the first seven-eight minutes was excellent and his adaptability within the role, he played higher up and he dropped in and some of his passing was excellent today."
