Everton book their place in FA Cup semi-finals

Everton gave Middlesbrough a goal start but still won 2-1 at Goodison Park. David Wheater headed Boro in front just before the break.

Everton restored parity within five minutes of the restart through Marouane Fellaini.

Then substitute Louis Saha grabbed the winner with the third headed goal of the afternoon to send the Toffees into the FA Cup semi-finals for the first time in 14 years.

"In the first half we were spot on and defended really well as a team, worked Everton and took the goal really well," Boro boss Gareth Southgate told the club's official website.

"We knew we would have a bombardment and we feel we've got the players to deal with it. But for a six-minute spell we didn't deal with it and that's ended our cup run.

"That sums up the season so far. We've got to learn how to see matches through when we're a goal ahead."
