Everton are casting wide net in manager search

Everton are casting a wide net as they seek to replace sacked manager Marco Silva.

The Mirror says Everton will step up their search for a permanent manager this week with Duncan Ferguson's instant success giving them some breathing space.

Shanghai SIPG manager Vitor Pereira and ex-boss David Moyes head the list of potential permanent replacements for Marco Silva, who was sacked last Thursday.

But Monaco coach Leonardo Jardim is also of interest while German Ralf Rangnick is on the list too and could be available after taking a step back from management to assume a role of 'head of sport and development soccer' for the Red Bull group.

And there has also been longer term interest in the Ajax coach Erik ten Hag, with owner Farhad Moshiri an admirer, and director of football Marcel Brands a friend from Dutch football.

Everton had sounded out former Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino but got a resounding no, while Napoli's Carlo Ancelotti also seems out of reach.
