Everton and Newcastle battling for Blackburn midfielder Adam Wharton

Everton and Newcastle are battling for Blackburn Rovers midfielder Adam Wharton.

The Sun says Everton boss Sean Dyche is prioritising Wharton's signing this summer, though Newcastle are also keen.

Everton aim to use the £8m raised from Ellis Simms' sale to Coventry to fund a deal for Wharton.

Blackburn want £20m to sell the youngster.

Everton see Wharton as a replacement for the released Tom Davies, while Newcastle would be open to loaning back the midfielder to Rovers for the new season.
