Fernando Santos was always full of belief that Portugal could achieve success at Euro2016.
Despite being held to three draws in their group campaign, the Portuguese rallied in the knockout stages to bypass Croatia, Poland, Wales and eventually hosts France in the final.
In the wake of the country's first ever major tournament triumph, Santos spoke of the mindset of his team who conquered all before them even though they were never favoured to win the tournament.
"I've always said we're a team," coach Santos said after Eder's 109th-minute winner at the Stade de France in Paris.
"I never hide my thoughts - I always tell my players what's on my mind.
"I've always told them we've got great talent but we need to fight more than our opponents, run more than them and be more concentrated than them.
"We have an amazing group. They've always believed what I told them: that we could win this."
