Northern Ireland kept their hopes of qualification to the knockout stages alive with a 2-0 win over Ukraine in Group C.
They started encouragingly as Stuart Dallas tested his luck from distance.
Rakistiy then had a similar shot for Ukraine which was dealt with comfortably by Michael McGovern.
Northern Ireland began to up the pressure at the end of the first half and Jamie Ward increased his involvement in the game; both him and Cathcart went close.
The second half was lit up in the 48th minute when Gareth McCauley directed a powerful header into the far corner to give the Green and White army the advantage.
Play was briefly halted however soon after when hailstones began lashing down and the stoppage lasted 10 minutes.
When the game resumed Kovalenko was inches from drawing Ukraine level but his shot just whisked wide.
But they could not find a leveller as Niall McGinn sealed the win for Northern Ireland late on.
