Ethan Laird thanks Butt, McKenna and Blackmore for Man Utd development

Manchester United youngster Ethan Laird has praised the likes of Nicky Butt and Kieran McKenna as he begins a season-long loan spell at Swansea.

Laird will play for manager Russell Martin at the Welsh outfit in the Championship this season.

The 20-year-old played under Martin for MK Dons last term.

In an interview with the Swansea website, Laird spoke about the impact that ex-United players Butt and Blackmore, as well as current first team coach McKenna had in his development.

"A number of people have helped me, from coaches to players who have been fundamental," he said.

"Nicky Butt has been a big one, he trusted me as a youngster to play with older players and teams.

"Kieran McKenna (assistant first-team coach) is now in the first team but he was great for me with the under-18s. There are so many I could mention, Clayton Blackmore is another, but this will be a long interview if I name everyone!"
