Espanyol striker Wu Lei has been named China's Player of the Year.

It is the third time Wu Lei has won the award.

He said, "It's a pleasure to win the Ballon d'Or in China. I'm very happy. Thanks to the Chinese fans who always encourage and support me.

"I also want to thank Mr. Xu, he always helped me in these years and took care of me. Thinking of the future, I have to say that I will work hard to keep improving and strive to bring more happiness to the fans.

"I hope that Chinese football will continue to improve in 2022."
