Espanyol striker Raul de Tomas is proud of his first call-up to the Spain squad.

Now in his second season with Espanyol, Raul has been rewarded for his form this season with the Primera new boys.

He said, "It is a special day, happy, not to forget. I did not expect the news. It is true that I am going for the injury of a teammate (Barcelona's Ansu Fati) who I hope is soon recovered.

"I thank many people who have trusted me, to the teammates, the club, the entire fans, this would not be possible without them. I am very happy to be able to represent my country, I hope I can do it more times.

"Being at Espanyol is a privilege, a pride, because the most important thing for me is the family and here we are."
