Espanyol sporting director Rufete has cooled talk of signing Shanghai SIPG striker Hulk.

Espanyol have presented their new coach Abelardo to the media and sporting director Rufete fielded a number of questions.

"A player like Hulk is unattainable for Espanyol," he said of the Brazilian, who is playing at Wu Lei's former team Shanghai SIPG.

Rufete did say there could be other players coming in, though.

"Before going to the transfer market, we must work so that the players recover their confidence," he said.

"It's important that any players who come in arrive at a group that is capable of competing.

"We're advancing certain situations, but we've not entered into anything yet.

"It's a complicated market, but the good thing is that any players who arrive will already know the situation.

"We can save ourselves from relegation."
