Espanyol have sacked coach Mane after only a month in charge.

Mane was appointed as a replacement for Tintin Marquez in December, but a run of poor results forced Espanyol to dump him yesterday.

Argentine Mauricio Roberto Pochettino is favourite to succeed Mane. Pochettino held talks with Espanyol in the summer and also in December after Marquez's dismissal.

The weekend's thumping by Malaga was the final straw for the Espanyol board, with supremo Daniel Sanchez Llibre flying in from Madrid to dismiss Mane yesterday afternoon.
