Scottish champions Rangers are keen on bringing Espanyol defender Raul Rodriguez to the club.
The 23-year old Spanish centre-half is seen as the man to form a god partnership with Madjid Bougherra in the heart of the 'Gers defence and negotiations will occur in the next 24 hours for a proposed £500,000 according to reports.
Rangers director of football Gordon Smith said the club would speak to Espanyol about Rodriguez as they continue to add to their squad ahead of the new season.
"We've had good reports on him. We now need to speak to Espanyol and discuss the terms of any possible transfer," he said.
"We are working on a number of targets and hope to make progress in the coming week."
