Espanyol defender Mario Hermoso is close to joining Atletico Madrid.

Sport says Hermoso has one year on his deal at the club but has reached ann agreement to move to Atletico Madrid on a five-year deal worth arround €3m annually.

His release clause is €40m, but the fact he could leave for free next summer means Espanyol will be forced to negotiate. Atletico will offer €20m. PSG will match Atletico's offer but the centre-back wants to move to Madrid.

Half of whatever Espanyol will receive will go to Real Madrid, who still own 50 percent of the player's economic rights.
