Espanyol are keen on Real Madrid youngster Marcos Asensio.
Marca says during Kiko Casilla's farewell press conference, Espanyol president Joan Collet said the club "worked hard" to try to secure Asensio on loan as part of the deal for the keeper.
Collet explained that this was not possible for practical reasons, including the fact that Asensio is away with the Spain under-19s and Real Madrid haven't even decided whether they are going to loan out the attacking midfielder this summer.
However, Collet said that he has not given up hope of landing Asensio, stressing that the 19-year-old is still a top "target".
