Manchester City boss Sven Goran Eriksson has told Micah Richards he can captain the club in the future.

He said: "One day, Micah will be captain.

"I do not know how close he is to signing a new contract but sooner or later it will happen, I am quite sure about that.

"Micah is under contract until 2010, so he has plenty of time to sign. He will sign, I just don't know when."
