Newcastle defender Jose Enrique expects to return from injury by month end to assist the Magpies in their fight to avoid relegation. The Spaniard has handed boss, Alan Shearer, a boost by announcing that he hopes to be fit to face Portsmouth on 27th April.

"This was a bad time to get injured because the team needs every player," the he told Newcastle's official website. "But now I hope to be back for maybe the Portsmouth game.

"For me it is disappointing because before I got injured I was playing well and had confidence.

"But now I have to get fit for the remaining games and get back to the way I was playing."
