English Premier League (EPL) Season 2023-24 overview

The 2023-2024 English Premier League season kicked off on 11th August 2023 when Manchester City, the defending champions took on the recently promoted championship side Burnley. This was an easy win for Pep Guardiola's side as they are seeking to be first Premier League team to win the trophy a record consecutive fourth time. Will Manchester City succeed in becoming the first premiership side to win the title a record fourth consecutive time? Only time will tell.

Here's our predictions for the likely top 5 English teams competing in one of the world's best footballing league for the season 2023-2024.

1) Manchester City

This team is a top contender in this season's premier league race and they could easily win it yet again. Despite the fact that they have lost some of their best players to other teams, they are still in great shape. Ikay Gundogan went to Barcelona while Riyadh Mahrez went to the Saudi Pro league. All odds still show the Sky Blues as still the best premier league side by a considerable margin.

Since the team's tactician, Pep Guardiola came along; he has introduced entertaining football, which is proving a tough nut for other coaches in the league to crack. Pep is also looking to win the UEFA Championship for the second straight time this season and for this also, only time will tell.

2) Liverpool

Liverpool being an English club with the most European football titles has had a lackluster performance in the season ended. They finished fifth and will not be in contention for this season's UEFA champions league. While this certainly was a disappointment for them, it could be a blessing in disguise, as they will now focus fully on the premier league title chase. In fact, even top bookmarking sites where you can find the best New Zealand casino give Liverpool side favorable odds to win the league. Punters and pundits predict that Liverpool could win or at least finish in top 4 this season. They may have lost some of their treasured players like Jordan Henderson to the Saudi Pro League. However, on the flip side though, they have made some valuable addition of another talented player from Brighton, Alexis Mac Allister.

They have also onboarded another top playmaker from the Bundesliga in the name of Dominik Szoboszlai. They started they title chase with a draw at Stamford Bridge but made a turn around with emphatic wins over Bournemouth and Newcastle.

3) Arsenal

Arsenal had one of the best runs in the last season, leading the title race for the longest time only to relinquish it to Manchester City at the end. However, they managed to secure a spot in this season's UEFA championship contention for this season. For five seasons they have missed playing in the tournament but fortunately they'll be around this time.

They have made new signings this season to their side including some very good players and it will be a wait and see scenario how they play. Some of their new signings include Declan Rice, Kai Havertz and Jurrien Timber. Even though Mikael Arteta's side may not be as deep as that of Manchester City and Liverpool, they could still pull a surprise this season.

All Arteta will have to do to get what he is looking for is to tactfully rotate the squad to enable him to sneak past the two top contenders.

4) Manchester United

Even under the stewardship of Erik Ten Hag, the Red Devils have not been able to turn fortunes around and return to what they have been known to be. They managed to finish third and salvaged an EFL trophy last season but this hasn't convinced its massive support base both in England and abroad. However, this season they have made some good signings including Andre Onana, Mason Mount and Rasmus Hojlund. Should Ten Hag field his players correctly, the new players could make a great turn around to their fortunes as the league progresses. With their narrow victory in their season opener over Wolverhampton, it seems a lot needs to be done though. But overall, the Red Devils are certainly on the title contention this season.

5) Newcastle

Newcastle had an impressive run last season thanks to the new owners that poured incredible amount of funds that were badly needed by the club. They managed to finish top 5 in the ended season and will be playing in the Champions League this season. It is interesting to note that the club really tried to keep a clean sheet from the season ended conceding very few goals.

The Magpies have some new players to watch this season, Sandro Tonali from AC Milan and Tino Livramento from Southampton.

So far since the start of the season they have lost to Manchester City and Liverpool but this shouldn't make them be brushed aside from title contention. However, it will be interesting to observe how they will juggle between playing in the premier league and also chasing the UEFA Champions league for the first time in two decades. Ours, will be just to wait and see how they will play.
