Stuart Pearce has every confidence that Arsenal full back Kieran Gibbs can go on to become a full England international. Pearce told The Times: "Kieran is a very strong character."

"You only have to listen to him speak to know which way he is going."

It was a Gibbs mistake which set Manchester United on the road to the Champions League semi-final victory over Arsenal, but Pearce was impressed with the 19 year olds reaction.

"Kieran's manager (Arsene Wenger) picked him for the next game."

"His performances were just as good. Against Liverpool, he had a shaky ten minutes but he played his way out of that and still wanted possession. I saw a maturity beyond his years. That's why I picked him."
