England's Hodgson yet to make call on Liverpool's Sterling

Roy Hodgson says he has not decided whether Raheem Sterling will be released from the England squad after this weekend's clash with Lithuania.

The Liverpool winger is nursing a toe injury and although he is expected to take his place in the squad for the Euro2016 qualifier against the Lithuanians at Wembley on Friday night, his presence for the friendly with Italy next week is clouded.

?There have been calls that Sterling will return to Liverpool from London on the weekend, foregoing the trip to Turin, which is set to anger Premier League rivals.

?However, Hodgson insists a decision on the youngster has not yet been made while doubt hangs over Manchester City veteran James Milner.

?"I haven't decided upon (Sterling), there's an obvious case for him and James Milner who's been playing for quite a while now with a knee problem," Hodgson said.

"There are those two and others who we will have to take a very serious look at.

"In Raheem's case he needs some specific treatment and who knows, if it goes well tomorrow night, the wise thing might be to give someone else a chance."
