England has our own way of playing - Arsenal's Wilshere

Jack Wilshere has denied claims that the England national team lacks technical ability.

Many critics suggest that players in the Three Lions setup are devoid of pure footballing technique which has highlighted the nations shortcomings in big tournaments recently.

But Arsenal midfielder Wilshere does not agree with those sentiments, stating that England has their own style which has once again got them to the finals of a World Cup.

"I believe we don't really play like other nations, but in the end we've got our own style," he told RWD Football.

"We've got our own way of playing. That's England.

"Just because we don't play like Spain doesn't mean we haven't got a high level of technical ability. We're changing our game all the time and we want to adapt it to a level where we are going to be able to win things at an international level.

"If that requires passing it around a bit more, then we'll do it. But at the moment, we're doing all right. We've got to the World Cup, so we'll stick to our guns for the moment."

The 2014 World Cup in Brazil will see the Three Lions take on Uruguay, Costa Rica and Italy in Group D. Their opening fixture is against the Azzurri in Manaus on June 14.
