England coach Gareth Southgate is happy seeing Manchester United defender Harry Maguire prove himself.
Southgate never lost confidence in the centre-half while he was struggling for form.
He said: "Harry is a resilient character and you need that resilience to play at Manchester United. It is one of the biggest clubs in the world with loads of press stories every single day.
"We know he can play in the biggest games. We have seen him in the final rounds and we know what he brings to the group in the national team.
"In my eyes, you must support your players. We felt that we had to here. It was the right thing to do. We have always had faith in him.
"People say 'you just pick your favourites', but that's not the case. I don't pick the ones I like best, but the ones that have performed the best for me. The players I feel are my best cards."
