England manager Roy Hodgson has revealed that he prompted Wayne Rooney to give a speech after he reached the 50-goal milestone for the Three Lions.
The 29-year-old duly obliged and gave a short speech, in front of his teammates, after the game against Switzerland.
Hodgson told reporters: "I provoked him into giving a speech - it was a very good speech but very short, as it should be."
"The one thing that struck me was how proud he was to have achieved that, how determined he is not to stop at 50."
