Luciano Emilio has left DC United for Brazilian Second Division Rio Branco de Americana.

The striker spent three years with DC United and club officials weren't expecting to retain him after declining to exercise the option on his contract last month.

"He's a good guy, he did a great job here and we wish him well," DCU president Kevin Payne told the Washington Post. "We wanted to go in a different direction and we're confident we will find someone to fill that role. We have some ideas that would have less impact on the salary cap."

Meanwhile, fellow DCU striker Ange N'Silu has also left the club.
