Eljero Elia is in limbo after his spell last season with Southampton.

The Dutch winger still has a year to run on his Werder Bremen contract, but has been informed he is not wanted by the Bundesliga giants.

Elia is currently training away from the first team squad at Werder.

There has been talk of Southampton taking on Elia for another loan spell after last season's six month stay.

But Werder chief Thomas Eichin said: "I've heard nothing from the English club."
