Elias Sorensen is set to start preseason with Newcastle United's U23s.

Even though he was hoping for a first-team chance, Sorensen must now impress in summer training with the second string, says the Evening Chronicle.

The Danish hotshot bagged 20 goals for the reserves last season and also spent a loan stint at Blackpool before helping the young Magpies reach the Premier League 2 play-off final and the Premier League Cup final.

United promoted three youngsters to the senior end of the training ground, namely Thomas Allan, Mo Sangare and Nathan Harker.

Víctor Fernández is also back after a season of injuries but was also sent to Spain with the second string.
