Elche have released a statement after their relegation from the LaLiga was confirmed.

Elche are officially down after defeat to Almeria last night.

They said in a statement in the aftermath: "Dear fans, today is a sad day for all of us who make up the Elche Club de Futbol family.

"We have the heartbroken for everything that happened, in a year full of illusions and passion that coincides with our centenary. For this we want to say thank you and apologise from the bottom of our hearts.

"We want you to know that we will learn from our mistakes, this obstacle will not distract us from the project of building an Elche that continues to fight with the best, that grows every day and that continues to look to the future with optimism.

"Our history demands it, our fans deserve it. We will return together to the place that belongs to us most."
