German legend Steffen Effenberg expects Bayern Munich star Franck Ribery to join Real Madrid.

Indeed, Effenberg believes it would be best for all if Ribery made the move as quickly as possible.

He told Tz: "I think it will happen, but nobody knows when. However, a player should be honest with his club and not sign contracts that he does not want to meet. The money plays an important role and with a bid so high you can lose your head.

"We saw that last season. In the last few games he did not provide what we expected from him. He was unruly and caused a dismissal. He no longer had the enthusiasm we were used to. He probably had in mind that he wanted to leave here."
