Dick Advocaat has confirmed that he has taken a short-term role with Sunderland.
The 67-year old Dutch tactician has agreed a deal to take over at the Stadium of Light until the end of the current Premier League season following the sacking of Gus Poyet earlier on Monday.
Advocaat told Voetbal International: "I'm still in a dark hotel, but [will] work soon at the Stadium of Light.
"It is initially purely for this season."
Advocaat, who has previously managed the likes of PSV Eindhoven, AZ Alkmaar, Rangers, Zenit Saint Petersburg, Holland, Belgium and Russia, was excited to be joining one of England's bigger clubs.
"This is what I always wanted to do again, the Premier League. That remains a phenomenal competition," he added.
"As a coach you want to still work, that continues to draw.
"West Ham United await on Saturday, then there is the international match break and then the derby with Newcastle United.
"That's really something to look forward to, because believe me, this is just a very big club."
