Dutch pundits insist De Boer will stick with Man Utd outcast Van de Beek

Dutch reporter Valentijn Driessen believes Manchester United midfielder Donny van de Beek has an assured place in Holland's Euros squad.

Van de Beek has struggled for minutes in his first season at Old Trafford, having arrived in the summer from Ajax. The midfielder has managed 29 appearances for United this season, scoring once.

Despite his limited action at club level, Driessen says Van de Beek's history with Holland coach Frank de Boer should see him make the summer tournament. Van de Beek played for De Boer at Ajax.

Driessen told the De Telegraaf podcast via Voetbalzone: "As long as you have a good relationship with Frank de Boer, then you go to the European Championship.

"And you must have played under him at Ajax or come from Ajax and you just go to the European Championship. Of course it seems that way. For some people different rules apply than for others. Wout Weghorst for example."

Fellow reporter Mike Verweij also said on the podcast that there's little surprise De Boer will go with Van de Beek for the Euros.

He explained: "It is also not surprising that a coach gathers people around him that he has a lot of confidence in. And apparently he has a lot of faith in Donny van de Beek."

With Holland, Van de Beek boasts 19 caps, having scored three goals. He featured against Latvia and Gibraltar in the last round of World Cup qualifiers, scoring in the 7-0 thrashing of Gibraltar.
