Dundee United manager Peter Houston is determined to keep Robbie Neilson at the club.
The 31-year old centre-back joined the Terrors after leaving Leicester City in October and has been a vital member of Houston's squad.
Neilson is out of contract at the end of the season but the United boss is keen to secure his services if the club and player can come to an agreement.
"We'll have to see what he wants to do. He still has a house in England and he might fancy giving it another crack down there.
"It will come down to whether he wants to stay and whether we can afford him or not.""Robbie is a versatile player. He has played centre-half for Hearts so that's something he can do. I'd like to keep him here but I have not spoken to him about it," Houston said.
