Dundalk defeat Jeunesse Esch as Europa League progress close

Irish club Dundalk have one foot into the next round of the Europa League after a 2-0 win at Jeunesse Esch.

The Irish side came into their first qualifying round first leg tie as favourites against the Luxembourg outfit and two goals from Richie Towell handed them a comfortable win.

The 22-year-old opened the scoring from the penalty spot after Adrien Portier brought down David McMillan in the 59th minute and doubled the lead 19 minutes from time.

The second leg will take place at Oriel Park on July 10.
