Giovani dos Santos was given permission to return home to recuperate from an ankle injury when he was captured by photographers, although the 20-year-old midfielder is understood to be ready to explain he was out with his family. Spurs boss Harry Redknapp spoke about the improvement in the Mexico international's attitude just before the Carling Cup win against Preston, when the former Barcelona player was injured after 15 minutes.
"I really want to show what I am capable of doing," said Giovani after getting injured.
"All the problems that come with footballers come with drinking," Redknapp said earlier in the season. "It does in most people's lives. They have to dedicate themselves to the sport."
