Villarreal have won the race for Real Madrid attacker Takefusa Kubo.

The Japan international spent this past season on-loan with Real Mallorca and Madrid have been seeking a similar arrangement for this term. However, the qualifier was the club involved should be playing in European competition next season.

With Villarreal to feature in the Europa League, Real Madrid are happy to place Kubo with them for the new campaign.

An agreement, reports AS, was struck on Tuesday and a formal announcement is expected soon.

The deal for Kubo will not include a purchase option.
