Newcastle United have sent Rodrigo Vilca to Doncaster Rovers on loan for the first half of the 2021/2022 season.

The 23-year-old will be playing for the League One club for the first half of the campaign, where he is likely to play regularly for the first team.

The Magpies will monitor the South American's development with a view to bringing him back if he shines in England's third division.

Vilca was not in Newcastle's squad for the Papa Johns Trophy loss to Sheffield United, as he was preparing to join Richie Wellens' team instead.

Doncaster are bottom of League One at present.
