Manchester City have announced the signing of River Plate midfielder Claudio Echeverri.

For the coming year Echeverri will continue with River Plate before joining City.

City confirmed on Thursday the signing of the young Argentine on a contract until the summer of 2028.

Echeverri turned 18 at the beginning of January and has currently played six first-team matches for River Plate.

For Argentina's U17 national team, there have been 23 appearances with 13 goals as a result.
