Championship club Charlton Athletic have announced the signing of defender Rod Fanni on a loan deal until the end of the season from Qatari side Al-Arabi SC.

The former France international had joined Al-Arabi from Ligue 1 giants Marseille in the summer.

The 34-year-old has experience of playing Champions League football and has represented the France national team on five occasions.

During his career in France, which was also took in stints with Lens, Nice and Rennes, Fanni made close to 340 Ligue 1 appearances meaning he will add a great amount of experience to the Addicks line-up as they get set for a relegation battle.
