Nigel de Jong is ready to quit AC Milan and join Louis van Gaal at Manchester United, it has been revealed. The former Manchester City midfielder comes off contract in June and has been in negotiations with Milan about new terms.

However, Tuttosport says De Jong has rejected Milan's latest offer and is ready to return to Manchester this summer.

United have held talks with De Jong's camp terms, which are seeking a package worth €5.5 million-a-year.

And Van Gaal is willing to meet the player's demands to bring him to Old Trafford.
