Dixon says Arsenal must get tough in Barcelona

Arsenal must show a steely side if they're to defeat Champions League opponents Barcelona.

That's the opinion of Lee Dixon, who was part of Arsenal teams in the past who have recorded successes against the odds in both European and domestic competitions.

Dixon told the Sunday Mirror: "Ideally, you would want a more substantial lead and 1-0 would have been better than 2-1.

"But there is something in the DNA at Arsenal, something that inspires the players to produce resolve when their backs are up against the wall. That could be the case on Tuesday."

While many have already written off Arsenal's chances, Dixon is convinced there is hope - and he pointed to the dramatic 2-0 win at Anfield to win the 1989 league title and a European final in 1994 to illustrate his point.

He added: "That lead is vital, really important. It means that unless Barcelona score three times, they can't afford to relax.

"Arsenal have to be focused, determined and keep their shape. "
