Distin: Everton colleague Lukaku can go all the way

Everton defender Sylvain Distin reckons team-mate Romelu Lukaku has got all the attributes to be a top class striker. The giant 20 year old Belgium striker, on a season-long loan with the Toffees from Chelsea, notched his fifth top-flight goal of the campaign in the 2-0 win at Aston Villa on Saturday.

He told the Liverpool Echo: "Considering Romelu's age, he has got all the qualities. He's a monster. He's learning game after game and has the right mentality.

"I was talking about his size and his weight with him a week ago. We're more or less the same weight and to get there, I had to work hard in the gym for four years.

"For him, it's just how he is when he wakes up. I wasn't like that when I was 20. He's physically blessed, and his positioning on the pitch and finishing are improving all the time.

"His attitude is great and that's the most important thing for a young player, and all our youngsters have that."

Lukaku wants to emulate former Chelsea striker Didier Drogba and Distin sees no reason why he cannot better his idol.

He added: "He might like Drogba a lot as a player, but I think Rom's very different. He's a lot more powerful. Drogba was a mix of strength and, I have to say, cheating.

"He liked to come strong at you and then when you did it to him, he was on the floor. Rom is 100 per cent. If you go shoulder to shoulder with him, he's not going to stop. He'll just carry on.

"Drogba was canny about when to fall but if Rom can be as good as him in other ways, then it'll be great for him."
