Sylvain Distin is among six players released by Bournemouth today.

Distin, 38, joined the Cherries on a free transfer from Everton last July, but dropped out of the first-team picture in the second half of the season.

The Frenchman started 14 games for the club with a further three appearances as a substitute, the last of which came late on in the 3-1 victory at Newcastle on March 5.

Defenders Stephane Zubar and Jon Muleba and midfielders Josh Carmichael, Josh Wakefield and Mason Walsh will also be leaving the Vitality Stadium.

A statement on the club's official website read: "AFC Bournemouth would like to thank all of these players for their service to the club, and wish them all the best in their future endeavours."
