Dinamo Moscow defender Wilkshire out of Australia squad

Luke Wilkshire has been ruled out of the Australia squad for this weekend's international friendly with Brazil.

The Dinamo Moscow right-back has been withdrawn from Holger Osieck's Socceroos roster because of a knee injury and will no longer be available to take on A Selecao in Brasilia.

A statement from Football Federation Australia read: "Socceroos Head Coach Holger Osieck today announced that Luke Wilkshire has been ruled out of the upcoming international friendly match against Brazil due to a knee injury.

"Wilkshire travelled in Brasilia and was assessed by the Socceroos medical staff on arrival. Following his assessment and consultation, Osieck decided that Wilkshire would not be suitably fit to train or play in the match and therefore released him back into the care of his club, Dinamo Moscow, to recover."

Wilkshire joins New York Red Bulls star Tim Cahill on the Socceroos injury list as Osieck prepares his players for the clash with Luiz Felipe Scolari's side on Saturday September 7 (September 8 AEST).
