Atletico Madrid striker Diego Costa insists Antoine Griezmann's decision to stay was no surprise to him.

Griezmann penned a new deal with Atletico yesterday after months of speculation linking him with Barcelona.

Costa said: "I have not seen Griezmann's documentary.

"But when the thing took so long, in the end it's because he's going to stay.

"I knew he identified a lot with us, with the fans, with the people ... He was delighted and he knows we loved him so much. He is a boy who suffers and has a very nice heart, who has a lot of feeling.

"The b*****d will now be paid good money!"

Costa added: "In all respects I'm better (than in Chelsea.) Atlético is very well, has grown a lot and has the possibility of offering good contracts."
