Atletico Madrid striker Diego Costa has been accused of taking a 'bench' swipe at former Chelsea teammate Michy Batshuayi.

The Mirror reports Costa took to social media to comment on a picture uploaded by the Belgian forward in which he said "Good night" to his followers.

Costa, who follows Batshuayi, posted a single word in response - "Chair".

A number of Chelsea fans are convinced that the Brazilian was in fact mocking the forward.

Batshuayi played second-fiddle to Costa while he was at Stamford Bridge, and is now behind Alvaro Morata in the pecking order.

Blues supporters are convinced the Atletico Madrid striker, who has returned to the club to train ahead of his January switch, is alluding to this fact with his comment.

"Chair" has been interpreted by some as meaning "bench" - suggesting Costa is taking aim at the Belgian's lack of game time.
