Nelson Dida is playing his way into a new contract at AC Milan.

The Brazilian goalkeeper, 36, was expected to be shown the door at the end of the season when his contract expired.

But Dida is now regarded as coach Leonardo's outright No1 and a new 12-month deal is being considered by management.

To remain, however, Dida will have to accept a big cut on his current £3 million salary.
